Web visitors authenticate themselves using Google, Facebook or Twitter account. Thus, logging to Second Life is not required at all. WebTalk remembers the SL name of the  authenticated person and will use it next time automatically.

Q: How can I put WebTalk on my website?
A: This documentation page explains the WebTalk setup. Basically, you get HTML snippet code and put it on your website.

Q: Is it safe?
A: We’ve paid a lot of attention to the safety of the WebTalk. Besides the automatic spam checks, you can mute any user of the web using SmartBots Group Chat window.

Q: May I change WebTalk window appearance?
A: Yes, you may apply your own CSS file over WebTalk window, changing the appearance. Refer to this documentation page for details.

How does it work

As you may see on the following picture, the “Eject or blacklist resident” section contains two options now:

The first option (“Eject resident from the group”) controls wherever you want to eject selected resident from the group members. If this option is checked, and resident is not in the group, operation will fail.

The second option (“Add resident to blacklist”) controls if you need to blacklist resident, and prevent him/her from joining the group. You may blacklist person even if he is not a group member at all.

SmartBots API provides essential functions to manage your requirements:

• deliver invitations to the groups, eject members from Second Life groups;
• move Second Life bot, interact with bot’s HUD devices and attachments.

We’ve fixed a very important disadvantage of almost all known Second Life bots – the rough look of hi-res body textures. SL desktop viewers workaround this problem, but bots were affected.

One of our customers selling hi-resolution Second Life textures asked us to ensure that his Second Life bots look exactly as using SL viewer, and we’ve managed to resolve this problem.

Another minor issue fixed today (also affecting a lot of other bots) is a reliable eject routine. Since we were updating standard libraries, we’ve fixed this problem too.

Thus, if you still see a rough grainy textures on your Second Life bot, or if you lack a reliable eject routine – welcome to SmartBots!

Instead of writing a support ticket or asking our manager to make the necessary changes, login to your SB account and click on the “change” link next to your current bot’s name.

Don’t forget to invite the new bot to the groups and give it the necessary abilities! If you need a help, contact any SmartBots support manager.

Previously, only one SSTI server was allowed to be installed on the sim (since SSTI boxes automatically fetch configuration from the main server). Now you can install as much SSTI servers as you need.

This can be done by specifying the “CLOUD” option which assigns SSTI server to another cloud rather than a default one.

The update is backward compatible, thus you can leave you existing SSTI infrastructure untouched, and just add new SSTI server within a different cloud.

Personal bots living on that server were affected, it took few hours to relaunch them (we maintain a live backup of all running bots, but this system update was related to backup itself).

We deeply sorry for that! We are adding 3 days to all affected bots, hope this will compensate the inconvenience.

SmartBots bot Live Chat allows you to chat in-world with other residents through your Personal Bot. From now on, Live Chat allows you to establish a new chat sessions by entering a Second Life name.

Some customers experienced problems using SmartBots Live Chat before. We’ve did the necessary fixed, and system runs smoothly now in all web browsers.  Check the Live Chat now:

Another way to start using the Live Chat is to go to  SmartBots main page, Login to your account and click live chat:

There’s a new feature available with SmartBots HUD which allows moving your Second Life bot around with the movement tab. You are not limited to “Come to me” or “Teleport” functions anymore to place your bot at specific location.

Movement panel provides you with several options: forward, backward and rotation controls.

Testing new HUD

If you already purchased your personal Second Life bot with SmartBots, feel free to test out the new HUD yourself. You can get a new SmartBots HUD at the SmartBots Office (take it from The Payment Terminal or Devices Storage).

This directive allows to specify the avatars you trust (for example, managers or your Second Life bots). These avatars will be able to say anything, including the “forbidden” words.

What is Anti-Spam?

SmartBots Anti-Spam is a special device which monitors your group chat activity. You specify the list of forbidden words and phrases, and it ejects anyone who says them. It is possible to warn the abuser once before actually ejecting him from the group.

Updating existing Anti-Spam devices

Open your device’s config notecard and add one or more “WHITE LIST” lines at the end of the config. The avatar names should be separated by commas. Example:
